Nike just launched a new website on the “Untold Truth”, the truth behind the Negro Leagues. The site talks about the innovations invented by the Negro Leagues. Who knew that that batting helmets were invented by the Negro Leagues! Another interesting innovation mentioned is that night games were invented by the Negro Leagues. Due segregation Negro League teams rented stadiums at night, out of necessity KC Monarchs owner built the first portable light system. There is a collection of apparel and shoes inspired by by the Leagues.
