NYC Artist Romon Kimin Yang aka Rostarr is a Korean-American artist, who has exhibited throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan.
His foundations are rooted in graphic design however he is recognized more as a painter. His work is defined by an expression he calls Graphysics, which is based on Graphic Design + Quantum Physics (visually speaking). Creating in vocabulary of iconography & symbolism, reintroduced as simplified forms. Nature, human psychology and mysticism are inspirations which he tries to communicate in his art. His work has been extended into the mediums of painting, sculpture, digital art/animation, textiles and public art collaborations with the Barnstormers collective, a core member since 1999. Collaborations with such companies as Nike, Gravis, Agnes B, Yamaha, etc. has won him international acclaim for his work.
In 2004 he was recognized as an honoree at the A.I.C.P. show held yearly at the MOMA, under graphics for the Nike Basketball Flow commercial. His first book Graphysics was published in 2001 by Alife. In January 2000 he was featured as one of I.D. magazines 40 under 30.
TRANSLATE is a platform that supports and brings to light visual artists in a collaborative environment unrestricted by geographic or racial boundaries. TRANSLATE provides a bridge and launching pad for creative aspirations, fresh artistic pursuits and the meeting of new friends.
