In 1996, Conde Nast, the parent company of GQ, launched the first issue of GQ Taiwan, simply as a source of information on men’s fashion, on both international and domestic front. Since then, the magazine became a must have for fashionable consumers, as a guide not only to latest styles, but on gadgetry, automobiles, entertainment, and urban lifestyle.

The concept behind FUSED is quite unique. 10 brand new XBOX360, given by Microsoft, to 10 world renown urban street culture artists, invited by Freshness, as mediums to express their artistic ideals. The outcome is 10 one-of-the-kind, functional art works, and a very unique birthday present(s) for GQ Taiwan.

All 10 XBOX360 will be auction off on October 20th, with all proceeds going to World Vision, one of GQ Taiwan’s favorite charity. Those who are interested in bidding, you can visit the special site: GQ Taiwan’s 10th Birthday Celebration on Yahoo! Taiwan Auction.

Here are the first 5 artists presented on the FUSED exhibition:

Whether with a skill level of a novice or that of a professional gamer, we all need a “boost” some of the times during our game play. SBTG can relate to this too, with layers of purple, white, and black paints arranged in his signature camouflage-like pattern. By the way, can any one guess what game this cheat code is for?

123Klan – France
www.123klan.com

French graffiti artists Scien and Klor teamed to form 123Klan in 1992. However, they soon begin to experiment with digital arts when they discovered the works of British graphic designer, Neville Brody. In pushing the envelope, 123Klan have brought their street and graffiti influence on to graphic designs and vice versa over the years.

OMG THEY DID IT ON MY XBOX!

As they described, the concept was simple, with a bit of humor. Instead of bombing regular mediums, like wall or trains. They went a step further and painted over someone’s brand new XBOX360.

Meg aka Trip – Japan
www.flickr.com/photos/trip_jp

Meg, short for Meg Hasegawa, from the city of Nagoya, Japan. Her love of trips and voyages won her the nickname “Trip”, the name stuck with her ever since. It was also her love of exploration that cause her to experiment with different mediums for her art, such as sneakers, LCD TV, photography, dolls, and now, XBOX360. Not long she graduated from Nagoya University of Arts, she became a lecturer at another local university, one of the youngest to do so.

Twin Daughters Keep Embracing

This work display the versatility of Meg. A combination of stenciling, painting, doll making (dolls not pictured) , even poetry. This work reflects partially of her reaction to the terrorists’ attack in New York on September 11th.

Her poetry below express her mood

The act of drawing, making things, telling things….

Everything surrounding us has a clear meaning and its inevitable,

And interrupting it on our own way & style….

There are children suffering from hunger,

And on the other hand, there are people eager to fulfill their desire for exclusives….

The recent 9.11 attack devastated the whole world, changed our life.

At the same period, I had lost my memory partially back then…

Repetition of Destruction and Regeneration…

Life will not think twice…

Combination of Memory and Experience,

That’s how it’s expressed…

I shall still be here,

Looking towards my next 10 years

-making makes myself myself-
