The adidas DJ O.G. One EQT B-Ball has a full, smooth, royal blue snake skin print patent upper with a white embroidery outline and three black rubber stripes for a strong color blocking effect. DJ O.G. One’s logo and moniker, “Mixtape Maestro”, is embroidered on the lateral ankle and his Bum Squad logo is applied to the translucent gum sole. Two graphic, synthetic neoprene/Lycra blend sock liners are included with the shoe.
The adidas DJ Wicked EQT B-Ball has a mixed black patent leather and matte black faux croc upper with cardinal red rubber accents on the three stripes and heel bar. A red and white embroidered DJ Wicked logo and brass knuckle image is applied to the ankle and gum sole. And two distinctive DJ Wicked sock liners are included.
The original design launched in 1991 and was known as the Equipment Basketball. The inspiration was to provide players with a minimalist, lightweight shoe that would perform well on-court. Designer Charles Johnson focused on the sock first and built the shoe around this element. He stripped the standard basketball shoe down to the core elements a player needed to run, cut and jump resulting in a minimal shell with visible cutouts to reduce weight and bulk and increase visibility of the removable sock. This cutting edge concept provided players with one of the industry’s first customizable sneakers and marked adidas’ position as a leader in modern performance footwear.
The adidas DJ O.G. One and DJ Wicked EQT B-Ball shoes retail for $150 and will only be available at Lifted in Portland starting Saturday, February 24th, 2007. Both EQT B-Ball designs are super limited edition with only 25 pairs available in the US (only at Lifted in Portland.) DJ’s O.G. One and Wicked will celebrate the launch of their EQT B-Ball designs at a joint release party on Wednesday, February 21st at Aura in Portland.
The re-release of the EQT B-Ball silhouette is part of the adidas Remix Collection. A dozen well-known DJ’s across the US have collaborated with adidas on limited edition EQT B-Ball designs which will rollout through Spring and Summer 2007 at regional specialty doors. Each design is distinct and original with only 25 pairs per style available.
