To celebrate the opening of HUT BOX, a new addition on the ground floor of the avant-garde Dover Street Market. Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garçons will release a series of new products featuring a very special Disney’s character - Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
Unbeknown to most, Oswald was the first character created by Walt Disney, who worked for producer Charles Mintz at the period. Subsequently, Walt Disney lost the rights to use the character and in its place, created Mickey Mouse. Aside from the mouse ears, earlier versions of Mickey wasn’t all that different from Oswald. In 2006, the rights to Oswald finally returned home to Disney’s. The company, in turn, assigned Comme des Garçons as the first label to use Oswald on its products.
