James Lavelle is certainly one of the best known DJ within the world of street/urban culture. The London-based Lavelle established Mo’ Wax, an independent record label, during the 90s. The company, in term, helped create some of the most notable albums by artists such as DJ Shadow, DJ Krush, Air, Nigo (of BAPE fame) and etc… Lavelle also co-founded UNKLE, a music collective which included collaborations with Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Mike D (Beastie Boys) Badly Drawn Boy, and more. Another unique aspect is the collective’s keen focus on its products visual factors. This led to long term working relationship with celebrated artists like Swifty and FUTURA 2000.
In 2005, James Lavelle, along with Earn Chen, owner of Ambush, a trend setting boutique in Singapore, created SURRENDER – an apparel concept that center not the culture of trends and hype, but quality and finite details. Already, the label saw collaborations with Neighborhood, Kostas, Maharhishi, and Dita Eyewear,
