Renowned for its elaborate costumes and masks, Carnival of Venice, or Carnevale di Venezia in Italian, was first recorded in 1268. Over the course of the past 700-years, the practice of masquerade was outlawed, even punishable with jail time. It wasn’t till the 1970s when the Carnival enjoyed a resurrection that masquerade came in popularity once again.
Since Carnival takes place next month, adidas decided to release a special Micropacer, based on the distinctive aspects of the celebration, as part of its new Flavours of the World Collection, an updated version of the popular Materials of the World Collection. On top of the miniature range finder and pedometer, graphics were laser-etched onto portions of the upper. Black-on-black embroidery adorned both heels and insole, with silhouettes of flying birds embossed onto the side wall.
