Converse x Dr. Romanelli 1HUND(RED) Chuck Taylor

In part of the PROJECT(RED), created by U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver to address the growing epidemic of AIDS/HIV in Africa, Converse launched a new initiative to both benefit the project and the commemoration to ’s 100th anniversary. The initiative, 1HUND(RED), will see 100 new interpretations of the classic sneaker by 100 chosen artists/designers. Among them is design #12 by the L.A.-based Dr. Romanelli. Part artist, part designer, the self taught Darren Romanelli’s unique re-interpretations of each project, the combination of hard to find vintage pieces along with updated silhouettes, in addition to his attention to details, granted him a reputation of a mad genius at work, hence the title “Dr”.

For the Converse 1HUND(RED), covered the Chuck Taylor in a pattern of antiquated bandages, each with functional perforations. The clear sole exposed an imprint of human skull diagram on the bottom. While the interior is imprinted with graphics of a human dissection, copied directly from a medical textbook. The Converse x – Chuck Taylor All-Star for Converse 1HUND(RED) is currently available at Sold Out (We Sold Out).
