In 8 short years, architect Masamichi Katayama (片山æ£é€š) and his firm Wonderwall altered the concept of retail space. In place of the dull and conservative concepts. Wonderwall constructed actual flight of fancy for its retail clients. With conveyor belt displays, polished aluminum and large pane glass, many have liken the store designs by Katayama and his team to the interior of a space station.
Last week, Bå° YOSHIDA (B JIRUSHI YOSHIDA) – the collaborative venture between Japanese retailer BEAMS and YOSHIDA KABAN (manufacture of PORTER bags) release the PORTER x Wonderwall collection. Comprised of a blueprint case, in tube form, and a folio, 2 essential tools of any architect. With inputs by Katayama, each is made from durable ballistic nylon and with attachable accessory cases for drafting tools. Zipper tabs feature short hand “WNDRWLL” for Wonderwall.
Currently available at Bå° YOSHIDA (B JIRUSHI YOSHIDA) flagship at Daikanyama neighborhood of Tokyo, which happens to be designed by Wonderwall as well.
