By all accounts, director Spike Jonze (or Spike Jones) is no stranger to skateboard culture, having worked on skate videos early in his career and co-founded http://girlskateboards.com/” target=”_blank”>Girl Skateboard Company.  What he also known for are his whimsical visualizations and experimental-like approaches of his films – reportedly the reason why famed author illustrator  Maurice Sendak, choose Jonze to direct the adoption of the classic children’s tale, Where The Wild Things Are.

To commemorate the film project, currently in post production and scheduled to release next year. Spike Jonze and http://lakai.com” target=”_blank”>Lakai Limited, whose founders also established Girl Skateboard, create a very limited Where The Wild Things Are Series.  The first of the series to debut is based on the Lakai Howard Select model.  The Lakai Howard Select – WTWTA features the identical supple leather, padded tongue and ankle collar, and natural gum rubber sole as the regular edition.  The unique exceptions are the custom crafted shoe box, the sketches and graphics of the Wild Things found on the interior & exterior of the sneaker, plus the crown given to Max by the Wild Things.

The Lakai x Spike Jonze – Howard Select WTWTA Edition is currently available at selected Lakai retailers, including http://zozo.jp/shop/flauge” target=”_blank”>FLAUGE of http://zozo.jp” target=”_blank”>ZOZO shopping network.
