For the ongoing 2008 Olympic in Beijing, Nike’s creative program, Nike Co-Lab, teamed up with artists Kevin Lyons, Ben Drury, and Hitomi Yokoyama, the same trio credited with the wildly popular 2006 “Air U Breath Pack“, in creating the new “Integrated Story Pack”. Comprised of the centerpiece, the Air Max 90 Current, along with matching Windrunner and t-shirts. Each artist integrated their take of the 2008 Summer Olympic with the auspicious numeral, 8.
For the UK-based artist Hitomi Yokoyama, whose extensive portfolio included designs for Gimme 5 and Goodenough UK, the game invoked a series of icons & geometric shapes. All of which are visible on the interior liners, in addition to grey mesh upper, tone-on-tone felt applications, and purple accents. The sneaker is also “vegan” approved and Nike+ Ready. Available now at selected retailers with Nike “Quick Strike” account, such as Berlin’s Overkill.
