Adorning 8-page spread of http://style.com/vogue” target=”_blank”>Vogue‘s September issue is Guilty, the 118-foot luxury yacht designed by contemporary art master http://jeffkoons.com” target=”_blank”>Jeff Koons and designer Ivana Porfiri. Commissioned by Greek construction tycoon, Dakis Joannou and produced by Italian boat builder http://inrizzardi.com” target=”_blank”>Cantieri Navali Rizzardi, the yacht enjoyed a christening event not unlike a royal wedding, with Larry Gagosian, Jeffrey Deitch, Marian Goodman, Maurizio Cattelan, Ashley Bick and more in attendance.

Both artist and designer came to the wildly patterned exterior partly from the “Razzle Dazzle” camouflage, which first saw action on war ships in World War I. Acted as optical disruption, the geometric camo “confused” the direction of which the ship was heading towards. However, as Koons stated, the design was also a homage to another American contemporary art great, the late http://lichtensteinfoundation.org” target=”_blank”>Roy Lichtenstein, who painted Andy Warhol’s boat and Young America, a 1995 entry to America’s Cup. The art is not only visible on the outside, but on the inside as well. Essentially a traveling art gallery on the high sea, designer Porfiri incorporated Dakis Joannou’s collection into every corner of the vessel. From Anish Kapoor’s sculpture, Campana brothers and Karim Rashid’s furnishing, to video art by Nathalie Djurberg. And if you can view the yacht from above, it will reveal a secret – a silhouette of another Koons’ idol, singer Iggy Pop.
