Shrouded in secrecy, BNE or BNEå‚上, has become a global phenomenon over the last decade. The ubiquitous stickers of bold black letters on white background, have found themselves on the most unlikely surfaces in Tokyo, Hong Kong, New York, London, and etc… So rampant is the trend that San Francisco’s Mayor Gavin Newsom declared war in 2006 and offered US$ 2,500 reward to the capture of the individual or group of individuals behind BNE.
However, BNE has evade capture thus far. Though the mystery of it deepens as the label real mad HECTIC recently collaborated with BNE in producing the HECTIC x BNE – 3 Layer Jacket. Made from 3-ply nylon fabric, the BNE jacket is not only waterproof but windproof as well. Lined with contrast blue lining, a BNE tag imprinted prominently as the inner label. All seams taped and only seamless zippers were applied. 2 large pockets on front for easy access, plus a small pocket on the left sleeve, all meant for quick tagging purpose. Priced at JP¥ 39,690 (~US$ 374), the HECTIC x BNE – 3 Layer Jacket is available in solid colorways of black, white and purple. Currently on sale at HECTIC’s flagship in Harajuku and eproze chapter of ZOZOTOWN. All that remains now is the true identity of BNE.
