Established by Japanese designer and photographer Takashi Kumagai, the label GDC is a reflection of Kumagai’s simple approach styling while he worked as a stylist. A focus on basic, traditional design with a twist, GDC and many of its sub-brands, have all become one of the most popular label within the Japanese domestic fashion market.
Recently launched as part of its Fall 2008 Collection, the GDC Union Work Boots is a prime example of Kumagai’s design concept. Comprised of either deep brown or black premium leather. Each is sewn on top of beige, shock absorbing outsole, that is more similar to a sneaker’s sole than one from a work boot. Another intriguing portion is the weaved fabric leading up to the ankle, with a pattern closely resembles to other tribal-insipired theme that is quite pervasive in many Japanese labels this season. Comes in brown and black, the GDC Union Work Boots is now available at all GDC retail locations across Japan and its online chapter in ZOZOTOWN shopping network.
