Beautiful floral prints in soften palettes, a common description to a class of fabric pattern commonly known as Liberty Fabric (or Liberty Art Fabric). Popularized over a century ago by Sir Arthur Lazenby Liberty, and his trading company, Liberty & Co. of London, Liberty Fabric juxtaposed graphics found on Asian porcelains with 19th century European design concept. Soon, the fabric became synonymous with the Art Noveau movement. The print still enjoy a loyal following among today’s fashion designers, such as Paul Smith, Issey Miyake, to the late Yves Saint Laurent, all have utilized the graceful fabric to punctuate their collections with colors.
For the approaching Spring season, designers at Nike continued their partnership with Liberty & Co. in creating 2 additions to the Nike Sportswear Women’s Collection. While the Nike Sportswear Liberty Collection – WMN Blazer emphasized on its streamlined silhouette with one Liberty print. Nike decided to mixed it up a little with the Dunk Hi version of the collection. By superimposing 3 different Liberty designs: Nina, Venus Leaf and Strawberry Thie, on each of the Dunk Hi panels, the designers created a patchwork of blue, lavender, beige and white. The Nike Sportswear Liberty Collection will be available in the coming weeks at Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer Street in New York City and selected retailers with Nike Sportswear account.
