SBTG’s RoyalFam came back into the spotlight back in October of 2008 with a re-launch of their website along with the introduction of a new line of apparel and custom sneakers dubbed the, “Dead Generals” collection. Following up on the Dead Generals theme, SBTG has customized a series of Nike Dunk Lows he calls, “Dead Generals Part 2: Skeleton Comrade”. While keeping the grim military theme that made the first Dead General custom sneakers so popular, SBTG manages to remain innovative and leave his work devoid of any stereotyped repetition.
For this release, SBTG will put out two versions of the Nike Dunk Low. The first thing SBTG fans may notice about these shoes is the use of selvage denim throughout the front and back sections of the upper part of the sneakers, as SBTG is well known for his deft application of selvage denim to kicks. Even though denim is seen on many of his creations, SBTG manages to coninue to discover new uses and designs for the fabric. Two more items tying in this Dead Generals release with the last batch are the gold lacelocks as well as the zip-up lace cover.
While the aforementioned aspects of the shoe have, in fact, been seen before, they are displayed in a design context including new patterns, colors and materials that keep everything fresh. As we mentioned, there are two colorways of the Dead Generals 2 design. The red colorway features black leather and laces where it is exposed from beneath the custom fabrics that feature “ARMY” printed followed by corssbones, and a black Swoosh with red blood spatter on the bottom part. On the blue version you will find the same details, with the exception that the details are blue instead of black.
Even if you are not necessarily a custom sneaker fan, there is still a lot to appreciate from the latest SBTG creation. As custom sneakers slowly emerge as a respected form of art, SBTG remains on the forefront of the movement as he continues to push the envelope with novel and innovative designs while sharpening his skills as they pertain to painting, fabric usage and stitching.
The two versions of the shoe will release at 10:00pm on Sunday, January 25th for a price of $600.00 and will be available exclusively on the RoyalFam website.
