The focus in the latest edition of Arkitip, issue # 50, is real estate tycoon André Balazs. Though not a household name, there is a good chance you have stayed in one of his hotels. That is because Balazs and his firm, André Balazs Properties, are the proprietors to some of the most conceptualized hotels and residences. From the celebrity favorite Chateau Marmont, The Mercer in New York (also Marc Jacobs’ temporary residence) to the popular Standard Hotel chain, which includes the most recent Standard New York, a building that actually cantilevered over the hip High Line Park in the Meat Packing District.
As with any Arkitip project, special gift – surface mat by artist Andrew Holder on 4 of Balazs’ most iconic project, will be included with each issue.
