With a very specific purpose, Parisian footwear company, Veja, is not your regular green brand. Veja creates a supportive ecosystem for small Brazilian producers by paying above-market prices for their materials. Its sneakers are based on three raw materials—organic cotton from northern Brazil, wild latex from an Amazon Forest preservation project, and ecological acacia-extract leather. This system helps to reintegrate small Brazilian producers into society by providing them with work opportunities.
One of its S/S 09 collection, Veja Grama, is made entirely from organic cotton and natural latex. Each sole is engraved with the quantity of wild latex in grams, and each shoe has a different natural rubber weight. Every Veja Grama is unique. The collection mixes Brazilian-inspired bright hued logos in purple, blue and orange with basic monotones. These classic kicks also come in a leather line, Veja Grama Leather.
Also in the S/S 09 catalogue is a limited edition SP,MA collection. This collection is inspired by the chaos and energy of Sao Paulo, Brail. It is a love message to the city, limited to 500 pairs and will be available from March 13 in 14 shops worldwide.
