Q.E.D. Spring/Summer 2009

Q.E.D., the abbrevia:tion for Latin phrase “Quod Erat Demonstrandum”, literally means “which was to be demonstrated”. The Berlin- based brand was founded in 2006 by Julia Boge, Simona Gabrieli and Jasmin Moalim. The brand stays true to the meaning behind its name for its S/S09 collection, “Nevermore”. With “Nevermore”, Q.E.D. demonstrates how Edgar Allan Poe’s brooding poem, “The Raven” can be transformed into tangible fashion sensibility. The collection showcases meticulously tailored pieces in shades of black and gray. The resulting items fuse elegant silhouettes with casual styles in soft materials such as linen and silk. The collection’s classic spring looks pair cotton-blend shorts or rolled up trousers with languorous vests thrown over light shirts. Perhaps “Nevermore” is not as dreary as Edgar Allen Poe, but it is definitely melancholy and reminiscent of the last summer days of boyhood.
