Bandai 59 Foot Tall Life Size Gundam Figure

Announced this past Wednesday, Japanese anime/toy conglomerate, BANDAI NAMCO Group, plans to construct an actual scale Gundam figure to commemorate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.  Standing at 18-meter (~59 feet), the statue will include an automated head unit (the only portion that will move) and 50 lighting elements. For dramatic effect, 14 “mist” points will be embedded throughout the figure.  Model RX-78-2, the very first Gundam mecha of the series piloted by protagonist Amuro Ray, will be use as the reference.   Construction on the fiberglass silhouette, steel frame figure will begin in July at Tokyo’s Shiokaze Park in Odaiba, close proximaity to Tokyo Big Sight Convention Center, home to the largest anime and manga expo.
