U.K. fashion icon Sir Paul Smith teamed up with the designers of Burton Snowboards once again in designing this year’s capsule collection. Somewhat dissimilar to the previous 2 collections, which were influenced by militarism and Paul Smith’s root in fine men’s wear, this third collaboration focus on the Punk Rock era of the 1980s, in which Smith came well known.
Another unique aspect of this collection is its expansion to other apparel pieces, such as jeans, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and more… All feature Smith eccentric design and attention to details, like the hidden mesh ventilations around the sleeves on its sweatshirts. Others include skull head shaped buttons and innovative linings found on the collection shirts or denims.
However, the collection’s focal point is an exclusive snowboard jacket unlike any other. With homage to edgier side of life, the sadomasochist/bondage inspired jacket incorporated best technical elements Burton offers cutting edge materials, taped seams, welded pockets, lift pass enclosure… into a most unlikely package. The jacket will be available in black shiny rubber (seen here) and a jacquard leopard print.
The Burton Snowboards x Paul Smith Fall/Winter 2009 Collection will be available starting this September at Paul Smith flagship stores throughout U.K. and Burton flagship stores worldwide.
