The value of true American holidays got a little lost in the past decade as the concept of family evolved and many opt to spend good old St. Nick’s holiday lounging under the sun in Ibiza rather than in front of the fireplace with family. Upholding the design and American moral totems of utility and honesty, Jack Spade’s Holiday 2009 Collection reminds us of simpler times and joys of the holiday with cozy flannels, knits and velvet.

Spade’s holiday collection is a mix of something we’ve all seen before and are familiar with–it’s the hooded wool toggle coat your brother wore when he came home with his girlfriend; the soft, the ever-present waterproof polyester puffy vest your dad wore with his favorite flannel when he attempted to produce eggnog in the kitchen. Some of our favorite pieces are caught in the uncanny, the space between old and new. A plush laptop bag gets a classic check cover, and snug knit scarves encounters bright color block makeovers. The Holiday 2009 collection leaves us feeling warm and fuzzy, and almost can’t wait to skip beach and get right to the snow. via: WWD
