40 years ago this week, 2 men, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, embarked on a voyage that was once deemed to be impossible, landing on the moon. To commemorate that milestone in human history, Louis Vuitton customized a ‘Life Capsule” for a special Apollo 11 exhibition, to take place in New York American Museum of Natural History. Dubbed Malle Mars, the bullet-shaped metallic trunk, adorned with LV’s Monogram design, swing up to reveal necessities for a flight of fancy to Mars. Medication, tools, picnic wares, and more…plus a folding lounge chair for leisurely account of the Martian landscape.
The Louis Vuitton Malle Mars Trunk, along with a collection of items from NASA’s Apollo 11 Archive, will all be on display at the The Rose Center for Earth and Space at American Museum of Natural History starting this Monday with a Louis Vuitton sponsored gala that will include appearance by astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride. via: WWD
