Belgian designer and Artistic Director of Dior Homme, Kris Van Assche, fills an interesting niche by fusing radical, innovative design with the familiar and luxurious. After some pleasantly surprising wrap-around combat boots for the Autumn/Winter 09 footwear collection, the designer’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection continues to awe and amaze us.
The latest collection features some design elements that are dramatic yet kept simple in monotones. Both low and high top sneakers that are clean in all-over black and white get a bondage treatment with laces that thread across the entire shoe upper. The lace eyelet panels are places low on the side panels, giving the kicks an intricate weaved look that is also punk-rock inspired. Other than theatrical sneakers, Kris Van Assche also updated a women’s favorite from the past two summers, the gladiator sandal, into a new sneaker silhouette. The sandals come with a premium grain leather upper with a zipper running down the side heel panel. The white rubber soles are thick and feature deeper grooves, adding an extra conspicuous flair to the shoes.
All drama aside, the collection also comes with some nice classics such as loafers and desert boots. Check out the complete new collection online now at Kris Van Assche.
