Self proclaimed “Asian Punk Boy”, Terence Koh is known for his uncompromising and unapologetic manners. Koh recently done a performance piece at Whitworth Galleryin Manchester, which is a tribute to artist Dash Snow. For this performance, Koh donned a crushed pearl tee, covered his face and feet in powder and curled up in fetal position to Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” on repeat.
The infamous pearl tee is now replicated by the artist for Opening Ceremony. The white tee is covered in crushed faux pearls and appear more like a installation piece or remade found object than something you wear with jeans. Nevertheless for the brave souls like Koh, why not wear it out as a commentary on the old money prep and pearls? Or, for those who are looking for collectibles, it won’t be a bad idea to stare at the t-shirt while listening to Nat King Cole to attempt Koh’s performance piece. Nothing like putting yourself in his shirt to understand his art, right?
