We like AREAWARE for two good reasons:
1. Because too many people have the LACK side table from IKEA.
2. Because we also have the LACK side table from IKEA.
The New York based AREAWARE is known as the purveyor of unique design products that are ornamental as well as functional. The new pop-up shop veers a little away from the company’s usual home accessories and jewelry and is designed as a travel supply store and souvenir shop. “Design To Go” aims to help promote local designers as well as alternative transportation in the city, catering to needs for a new class of burgeoning commuters of all walks and types.
The pop-up shop will be carrying every imaginable commuting relevant items ranging from Strida Foldable Bikes to KOR One water bottle. Some other brands and makers carried include Jack Spade, The Future Perfect, Malin and Goetz, Retro Super Future and Wallpaper* City Guides (so you know where your destination is.)
“Design To Go” just opened yesterday at Port Authority Terminal and will last through September 26th. Late summer and early fall is the best time to hop on a bike and head out upstate for some much needed dose of nature; or for those staying within city limits, it’s a good time to chill out with Julian Hibbard’s themed puzzle with a cup of joe. Even better, get off the couch and visit the AREAWARE “Design To Go” pop-up to see how Port Authority Terminal doesn’t have to be a dreaded sore spot of the city.
