Sophomore Fall/Winter 2009 Lookbook

Whether it’s due to the shrinking earth syndrome (one of the glorious side effects of globalization), or something else, there aren’t that many labels that can identify itself as quintessentially New York (albeit the I heart NY tees, but that’s another story). Chrissy Miller’s Sophomore is one of those rare gems that embodies the spirit of the Lower East Side and manages to keep the vibe relevant whether it’s Lower East Side in the seventies or Lower East Side today.

Taking cues from creating timeless classics in great soft-washed fabric and premium material, the label had been picked up quickly by Opening Ceremony and had since then established itself as a major player in the industry. This season, the collection keeps in line with the revered New York vibe is shot with a hint of Jurgen Teller flavor as seen in his work with Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent. A strong mix of graphic tees and outerwear with leather accents makes the collection a little more alternative than straight grimed rock and roll. The palette is subdued in burgundy and neutrals and dressed up the basics for fall. It’s a good time to pick up a leather vest or varsity jacket with black leather trims for the upcoming season. Stay tuned as the collection drops.
