A humble beginning as a printing press in 1867, the 4 partners at what was then called The United States Printing Company decided to test their printing skills in the creation of playing cards. By 1894, the demand for its playing card was such that the company decided to focus solely on cards and The United States Playing Card Company was born. Today, the Cincinnati-base company owned the most notable playing cards brand names, Hoyle, Maverick, casino staple Bee, and its flagship brand, Bicycle.
Working in conjunction with Supreme, a limited set of Supreme x Bicycle Playing Cards will be available as part of Fall/Winter 2009 line. The back of each card features an offset print of Supreme logo in the label’s signature white lettering on red. The card face is in the classic Bicycle print, including the woman on the Ace, a Bicycle signature originally inspired by “Statue of Freedom” sculpture on top of the Capitol Building, Washington D.C.
As with all Supreme Fall/Winter 2009 Collection, Supreme x Bicycle Playing Cards is set to launch on 3 separate dates next week – Thursday, September 3rd, at its North American flagships in Los Angeles and New York, followed stores in Japan on Saturday, September 5th. And finally, on its official online store the following Thursday, September 10th.
