A story told many times before, in the middle of a busy workday at his family-own tannery, an “eureka” moment dawned upon James Clark. With the discarded or imperfect leather, he could create affordable slippers. Fast forward 125 years later in the post-World War II England, Nathan Clark, great grandson of one original founders, came upon a design of necessity. While battling against Erwin Rommel’s Afrikakorps in North Africa, officers from the British Eighth Army would customized boots with natural rubber crepe sole to protect their feet against the unforgiving terrains. His adaption of these basic war-time suede boots into the Clark product line came to be known as Desert Boots. Thus forever link the label with it.
In celebration of this timeless classic’s 60th anniversary, Clark Originals will introduce a limited collection marking each of the 6 decades.
