With everything centered around Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week this week, it’s easy to forget that there are other things going on in the ever-happening city. To take a break from the runway and get a little touch of something else yet stay relevant, Juergen Teller is presenting his fifth exhibition, Paradis, at Lehmann Maupin Gallery.
Known for his campaigns with Marc Jacobs and Yves Saint Laurent, Teller was originally commissioned by French magazine, Paradis, to create these photographs which will appear in a leather-bound limited edition book available at the end of September. For the photo shoot, Teller was granted an all-access pass to The Lourve where he stripped down his subject such as models Raquel Zimmerman and Charlotte Rampling and took pictures of the ladies lounging naked around the former-French-Royal-Palace-turned-Museum.
While Teller himself is an involved member of the fashion scene, this exhibition seems to be like a commentary on the fashion week festivities. No clothes during fashion week? Perhaps this is as fashion-forward as it gets.
