California’s The Hundreds brought in LA-based artist, Jun Cha, to create a collection of products featuring original artwork from the artist that will find their way onto tees, fleece, hats and accessories such as key chains and decks. This collaboration launch also coincides with Jun Cha’s solo exhibition that is opening today, Oct 2. Jun Cha studied under masters in tattoo such as Mister Cartoon, Baby Ray and Jack Ruby, and quickly established a name for himself within the community by the time he was in his twenties. Jun Cha’s work is highly refined and his portrayal of characters are meticulously detailed and realistic. This pans into an interesting balance with portrayl of surreal situations and fantastical elements in his work.

For his collection with The Hundres, Jun Cha brought the same energy and characteristics to the table. A woman is encapsulated in the reflection of The Hundreds’ Adam bomb with marks of tattoo, reflecting Jun Cha’s direction for this collection– an exploration of tribal tradition in terms of family, life and death, and tattooing. While the overall theme is pensive and slightly dark, it is a great collection that inspires its wearers and viewers to ponder. Do check out the collection at The Hundreds LA and The Hundreds SF, and support Jun Cha’s solo exhibition, Black and Gray, at Canvas LA if you have the time. On another note, limited edition prints from his work with The Hundreds will also be available for purchase via: his online shop.
