The New Balance H710 is most famous as a pair of shoes worn by Lou Whittaker who was the first person to successfully climb the North side of Mount Everest in 1982. This New Balance collaboration with Nonnative fits in with their Autumn/Winter 2009 theme ‘Nomad’s Inn’ in which various parts have been reworked for a more contemporary look.

Firstly the upper uses waterproofed pig suede by Wolverine that is also thicker than average and in the tongue are double the amount of padding sponge than normal creating more comfort for serious outdoor use. On the outsole, they have opted to give it a more vintage look with special treatments rather than to have a prestine look out of the box. The original pair had the N logo stitched to the side of the shoes but it has been removed and replaced with simple NB branding. Also included in the pack are color coded striped laces as well as color matched basic laces.
