
Situated at a temporary gallery space in the heart of SoHo, last evening marked the official opening of STAGES Global Art Exhibition in New York City. Curated by Nike and pro-cyclist Lance Armstrong’s Lance Armstrong Foundation, with assistance from Deitch Projects, 23 of the world’s leading contemporary artist, be it photographer, painter, or graffiti, contributed in this international event as a celebration of the human spirit and Armstrong’s triumph over cancer. More importantly, the traveling exhibition, which first premiere in Paris during this year’s Tour de France, is to raise awareness on the continue struggle again the dreaded disease. As a commitment to this fight, all artworks will be auction off towards the end of the exhibition run, with 100% proceeds go towards the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Last night’s opening event saw hundreds of art enthusiasts and well wishers, which includes Lance Armstrong himself and Nike CEO Mark Parker, joining the festivities. Also in attendance were some of the contributing artists, many flew in just for the occasion. The exhibition is opening to the general public today, October 31st, and will last till Saturday, November 21st before moving on to Art Basel Miami Beach.
