For those who are familiar with Italian heritage down company, Moncler, puffy quilted jackets that are as cozy as they look are probably the first things that come to mind when the label is mentioned. While Moncler has been updating its classic silhouettes and styles with modern touches, it has also been reaching out to other brands for collaboration for new sparks. After working with Japanese designer, Chitose Abe’s label, Sacai, on a capsule women’s collection, Moncler S, Moncler moves into its menswear department with the help of visvim.
Announced earlier today, the partnership between Moncler and Japanese urban label, visvim, will create an approximately 20-piece collection known as Moncler V. visvim’s designer Hiroki Nakamura aims to create well-crafted basics by drawing inspiration from Moncler’s alpine boots. The collection will be a well-rounded line with accessories, apparel and footwear. Most of the looks will resemble items from Moncler’s archives dating back to the fifties and sixties.
The distribution for the collaboration pending for a fall 2010 release is looking rather exclusive. Moncler V will be available at about 150 stores worldwide– five or six in the U.S. and approximately 25 in Japan. This collection is perhaps one of the most promising collaborations announced thus far, for both label possess uncompromising attitude towards both style and design. via: WWD
