Expansion was started by designer Hiroshi "Kirk" Kakiage who moved to New York from Tokyo in 1991 where he had influences and experienced the various street cultures that New York had to offer. In 2002 Expansion began connecting the two major cities of the globe, Tokyo and New York and was involved with Hip Hop artists as well as graffiti writers. Apart from the clothing label, Expansion has also introduced various cultures and artists in Tokyo.
With this New Balance CM820, Expansion and mita Sneakers have teamed up to combines the flavor of Tokyo and New York into one sneaker. The CM820 was originally made in UK in the 90's which provided great cost performance with its excellent cushioning technology and lightweight. A good mix of materials are used on the upper with nubuck on the toe box, durabuck on the side panel and smooth leather on the heel section. Also on the upper is the rip stop nylon material that is printed with original Spiral Urban Camo pattern. As this is released during the Christmas season they have included a special replica of the Garni collaboration Silver Subway Ring which was released previously.
