VANS Vault x Taka Hayashi Spring/Summer 2010

After some successful collaborative seasons, VANS Vault continues its partnership with self taught illustrator/painter/graphic designer extraordinaire Taka Hayashi for Spring/Summer 2010. Going along with the previous Native American themes, the upcoming season continues to sport tribal patterns with colorful embroidered accents on straps and in prints. In addition, Taka Hayashi also drew inspiration from vintage military surplus and Italian footwear from the 1960s. All three models unveiled in this collection are brand-spanking new silhouettes, and of course to make the collection whole, there is a low-top, a hi-top and a flip-flop. The low-top and hi-top kicks keeps the Native American craftsmanship street ready with sporty color blocks crafted from contrasting materials such as leather and suede, and leather and felt. The palette is a mix of warm and cool such as tan paired with black, and maroon partnering with grey. The leather flip-flops stay casual and wide in shape and feature graphics which resembles a dinosaur footprint. The collaboration is a well-done and solid collection, and continues to surprise just when it seems as though designers have exhausted ways to work the Native American and outdoor inspirations. Stay tuned for the collection’s release due for April 2010. via: HB
