Earlier this month, we previewed Stussy’s Retrospective Collection which was created to celebrate the label’s upcoming 30th anniversary in 2010. Stussy was born in 1980 in sunny California and had since then grown into a global brand recognized and loved by many across cultures and backgrounds. While we had previously shown you the Rasta Varsity Jacket and Levi’s 501 Vintage collaboration denim as a part of the collection, the capsule line-up also includes an airily comfortable check beach pant and the Crazy Button Shirt.
Taking a more detailed look at the items, the Rasta Varsity Jacket is crafted from top of the line material with a dense Melton wool body for insulation and sleeves made from Japanese leather. As opposed to chenille patches commonly used on varsity jackets, the Stussy Retrospective Collection version takes cues from family crests and feature an elaborately embroidered lion on the front and back, sporting Stussy’s signature SS Link. As for the Levi’s collaboration, the label adapted Levi’s classic 501 XX model from the 30s and gave it a modern Stussy spin, printing the SS Link logo on the back pocket of these lightly washed and distressed denim. Taking a more casual turn, the beach pant and button down shirt feature the same patchwork of varying checks and gingham, but the crazy shirt sports a wry sense of humor with randomly positioned, purposely mismatched buttons on the placket.
As usual, Stussy’s 30th Anniversary Retrospective Collection takes the best of Stussy, and turns it into a solid line-up that is ready for the streets. The Restrospective Levi’s 501 XX are currently sold out, but the other three items are still available for order via: HNYEE; though, at the rate things are going, we won’t recommend waiting to check out your cart.
