Last year, Rei Kawakubo’s COMME des GARÇONS Shirt line collaborated with National Geographic and brought together interesting images from the lab and outdoors onto apparel, putting an intriguing wild spin onto Kawakubo’s most casual and easy to don collection. This time around, Kawakubo takes the line on another creative spin but departs from last year’s National Geographic themed photos and draws inspiration from hospitality signs we are all too familiar with. Behold escalator signs riding up and down in a stacked pattern on tees, a very city-minded sign for hotels, cars, library, toilets and policemen. The shirts take on a graphic and very geometric print of multiples in breezy summer palette of whites, greens and blues, splashed over light windbreakers and tees. Pair with chic khakis or Bermudas and slip into a pair of summery boat shoes, topping everything off with a fisherman’s hat for a great summer get away look. Feel the good vibes of vacation even if the furthest you can get away is the community pool and park with Kawakubo’s urban travel inspired collection. The items are now available at colette prepping for the warmer months to come.
