Barry McGee, better known to some as “Twist,” has been among the biggest figures in the grafitti-artist turned gallery artist world for quite some time. His first exhibition was in 1999 in New York City, and 11 years later he’s going to have his work in San Fransisco’s Museum of Modern Art for their 75th Anniversary celebration. Famous for his scrawling handstlyle and signature illustrations of characters in depravity, his work often evokes the post-modern condition in both art and ideology, as he often employs dry, bland tones to drive home a sense of hopelessness. More recent work, however, used bright geometric forms, which showed McGee’s flexibility as an artist. This exhibition looks to be one that bubbles up off of the wall and features a collage approach to displaying works of varied sizes. via: Arrested Motion
