There exists a void in the women’s footwear market that has proven to be difficult to fill. The quest for a balance between athleticism and sexiness is not unfamiliar in apparel, but has always been difficult to execute in footwear. Not because the concept is ludicrous, but because heels are not quite conducive to comfort. However, a new player in the female footwear game, Su-Yoon, is set out to prove that the equation between street and luxury, masculinity and sexiness and comfort can be balanced and is not a tall tale. While we have previously previewed the label’s Fall/Winter 2010 lookbook video, here we have a better look at the collection while we visited the ladies of Su-Yoon at COMPASS Trade Show.
As per reported, sportswear elements are incorporated into highly architectural and daring heel and boots constructions. Over-the-knee boots are crafted from premium leather and given a tough edge with generously padded knees; wedged booties are a tapestry of elements with puffy padded ankles juxtaposed with a suede open-toe upper, wooded wedge heel, EVA insoles, sporty rubber outsoles and a pull-tab on the heel (a component more prevalent on sneakers than heels). The wedge is constructed from two contrasting solid panels and both bend inwards to form a cut-out shape without sacrificing balance and stability (crucial qualities in heels).
A solid collection of pumps, booties and boots that don’t fail to wow and surprise, Su-Yoon adds a cherry on top of the beautiful footwear icing by also introducing a line of bags that are created with aesthetics and materials matching the footwear. Check out the good work Su-Yoon is doing, and stay tuned for their release later this year to fid out if the label has filled the big shoes and will prove to be game changing.
