Nike Cortez is enjoying it’s time in the sneaker spotlight this year as the classic silhouette has been adopted as Nike’s choice footwear to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year with. As previously reported, the Nike has created a special edition Chinese New Year Year of the Tiger Cortez inspired by the rare white Bengal tiger. To provide all sneaker enthusiasts with more information about the history of the Cortez, Nike Sportswear has collaborated with two designers from W+K in Shanghai to create a series of Cortez paintings which traces the evolution of the Cortez since it was first introduced in a light nylon upper in 1975. Check out some wonderful pictorial renditions of various iconic Cortez models from the past two decades and more, including the leather Cortez from 1976, and the technically advanced FLYMOTION Cortez which launched last year.
