Moncler Grenoble Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

Easily one the mammoth of presentations during New York Fashion Week, Italian down company, Moncler took over 59 Chelsea Piers last night and transformed the daytime driving range into a raw gargantuan deck of scaffolding planted resolutely against the cold Manhattan winter sunset. Models purposed on the scaffolding, clad in the new Moncler Grenoble Fall/Winter 2010 line which is designed with an urban, sophisticated aesthetic but après-ski ready in highly technical fabrics. The collection of puffy down outerwear with trousers, sweaters and shirts crafted from micro rips top nylon to treated canvas and Shetland wools render a collection of futuristic tendencies that seem ready to tackle the mission impossible or survive a nuclear fall out. The collection presented with possibly the greatest penchant for theatrics (gathering a crowd of fashion editors, buyers and tastemakers in the freezing Manhattan evening is not a easy task, unless of course, one has something to offer in return), is named after the French village from where the brand originated in 1952. The collection aims to return to the roots of the label, using pure, traditional materials that have not undergone manipulation and looks like it was lifted straight from “a wardrobe of memorabilia”. For the crazy New York winters like this year, the Grenoble series will definitely come in handy for all who do not wish to run around town wearing their snowboarding jackets and pants just to stay warm. via: GQ
