For Marc Jacobs, tees have been a wonderful canvas for collaboration where the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton is able to bring other influences and styles that tickled his fancy into his eponymous line. Some collaborators this season for tees includes British artist, Mark Titchner.
Joining the ranks of collaborators and revived into tees is Maripol, an artist, film producer, fashion designer and stylist extraordinaire who made a name for herself styling Madonna in the mid 80s during the international pop sensation’s Like A Virgin fame. The black rubber bracelets and layering of crucifixes became the jewelry trademark of Maripol and defined Madonna stylistically during those early years.
Marc Jacob’s line of colorful graphic tees re interpret Maripol’s designs during that era which played with bold patterns and explored femininity graphically. The tees in this series include the Zebra, American Woman, Stripe, Atomic and Atomic Woman. The special items tee are only available at Marc by Marc Jacobs stores, so if you are feeling a little Maripol and nostalgic for the eighties, do take a trip to the mecca of Marc Jacobs stores in New York City’s West Village.
