In the past years, adidas Originals has evolved beyond its causal retro vibes and turned into a tastemaker in its own right with high profile collaborations (Jeremy Scott, Kazuki Kuraishi and James Bond...just to name a few) that continue to challenge the concept of sportswear and push the envelop of design. The result turns adidas Originals into a sophisticated and highly evolved line which is surprising, creative, contemporary and relevant.
Pulling the free reins back a little, adidas Originals has released a new line, the A.039, this year which brings the line back to basics with retro simplicity that retains the Originals heritage while staying updated and timeless. For those who don't know, A.039 is an internal code within adidas for adidas Originals blue. The new line pays homage to the label's heritage and keeps things subtle and casual. One of the fresh confections which just dropped from A.039 are the iconic Campus 80s remixed with understated class. Available in two colorwas, navy and tan, the navy version is crafted from a mix of navy premium leather and suede with black accents on stripes and heel. The soles are kept off-white for a worn-in look and are meant to seem comfortably lived-in. Meanwhile, the tan version is bright in tonal cream leather accents and tan suede leather upper. Gum soles give the sneakers a down-to-earth vibe and are for men who enjoy quality without having to be blinded by the spotlight. Opt for kicks that will go the distance both literally and figuratively this season and pick up a pair at caliroots.
