Supreme - Lee Scratch Perry For Supreme

For Spring/Summer 2010, Supreme had collaborated with one of the most important figures in Reggae, Lee Scratch Perry, and rendered the latter's written work and original artwork into wearable items.

As most would know, Lee Scratch Perry is a quintessential influencer of the Reggae movement and quite a complex and contradictory character. A mentor and a partner to Bob Marley, Perry's work changed the scene of music in the 1970s, he precipitated every major style change in Jamaica and influenced countless important figures in music including the Beastie Boys, Jay Z, Paul McCartney and Brian Eno. Some of his renowned work includes Max Romeos War Ina Babylon, Junior Murvin's Police and Thieves (these were later covered by British punk group, the Clash), and some collaborations with Bob Marley such as the perennial Soul Rebels, Soul Revolution, Jah Live and Punky Reggae Party.

Aside from his achievements in the music scene, the doyen is deeply involved in social and political changes. A devote Rastafarian who strangely also believes in extraterrestrials, advocates black supremacy and end to taxation. While Perry continues to wander the world and work in music and experimented in sound through the 80s, he also branched into the realm of fine art through working with British painter Peter Harris.

The collection of two tees feature a picture and free-hand, doodle-like drawings of Perry. The tees are available in-store at Supreme on March 4 and in Japan on March 6 to kick off the warmer seasons. Get a little island-living into the crazed urban routine this season with Supreme and relive a little loving from Perry (dreadlocks not included).
