Through the sepia images from photographer Marley Kate, New York-base apparel label Mishka transports its fanbase to a not so long ago time when life seems a lot simpler. Youthful ideals fused with art, music, and occasional curfew violations; the guys from Mishka too fondly remembered their formidable years as teenagers in this city of 8 million. Hence, the inspiration for their Spring 2010 Collection, titled “Trailblazing Through The City With Just A Pipe And A Guide”.
Digging into high school yearbooks from themselves, their parents, and grandparents, Mishka’s designers conjured updated silhouettes, like Trailblazer Quilted Vest and Loose Nut Twill Jacket, from those familiar canvas overall used during school’s shop classes. Another is the Swarm Windbreaker, a new take on the athletic department track suit. Of course, the loud, rebellious graphics on Mishka’s t-shirts fit the defiant attitude of adolescents, no matter the generation divide.
The Mishka Spring 2010 Colleciton is now available at retailers with Mishka accounts, the labels’ flagship stores in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, and its online store.
