When it comes to lace eyelets, Asics Onitsuka Tiger believes in the more the merrier. Originally a Japan exclusive model, the Tweeny Chukkah will be available stateside this coming fall at Barneys exclusively. The Tweeny Chukkah is not your average run-of-the-mill chukkah sneaker hybrid (so called because they sport sneaker’s vulcanized rubber soles) as it comes with an interesting twist in design on the lace panel. While the average chukkah sports about three or four lace eyelets, the Tweeny Chukka has decorative ones running all the way through the side to the heel for a playful visual twist (as if the shoes are stretched out backwards). Aside from the play on eyelets, the sneakers come with a sleeker, slightly tapered shape at the toe. The upper is crafted from supple premium leather for added comfort. Definitely wear with cropped trousers or cuffed pants to show of the eyelet details! Look out for them at Barneys after summer and check out the sneak peek we’ve gotten at the label’s Fall/Winter 2010 preview!
