Los Angeles’ Arkitip and Incase have a longstanding partnership that has established itself as one of the best in the collaborations pyramid scheme. The collaborative line of Incase’s Apple accessories created by artists (Monsieur A., Evan Hecox…) enlisted by Arkitip have always been highly anticipated, carefully watched and widely discussed. This time around, the duo returns to push the boundaries of their work off MacBook sleeves and iPhone slider cases, and brings their creative pursuits into an experimental environment– Project Space.
Project Space is designed to be a unique setting for exhibitions, performances and installations where both original artwork and limited range of curated products will rotate in the space based on availability. True to Arkitip’s mission of supporting artists, promoting artistic awareness and making art affordable and accessible to all, Project Space will also collaborate with various artists to bring specialized exhibitions to the public.
First to artistically consecrate the space is Dutch artist, Parra, who had been extremely active in the collaboration scene in the recent years (the artist had just released a gorgeous burgundy NikeMax 1 TZ). The artist is known for his whimsical and bizzare characters that range from introspective to audacious and sometimes bawdy. His varied typography that are sometimes swirly and sometimes bold is beloved for its pop-vintage vibe and have been found on everything from canvases to flyers, billboards, pamphlets, record covers and tees. This exhibition is not the first time Parra is working with Arkitip and Incase as his work with the duo can be found in the second installment of Curated by Arkitip where Parra created a series of MacBook sleeves and iPhone Slider Cases for all.
The first exhibition to be held in the space is the extremely affirmative “Yes, Yes, Yes” featuring artwork by Parra. This will be up and running for a month from April 1 to April 30. If you happen to be in Los Angeles in April, don’t miss out on the space and do take some time out to check out Parra’s work in person!
