adidas Originals by Originals Spring/Summer 2010 Felicity Lookbook

Derived from Latin word felix, felicity is a simple word which translates great happiness. For Kazuki Kuraishi with his continuing work with adidas Originals by Originals, the designer perhaps aims to translate a state of happiness with his latest season of collaboration by naming the lookbook “Felicity”. While we had previously previewed styled looks from the season, which takes preppy off the school grounds and into the streets by fusing bright plaids with sporty silhouettes such as nylon hooded windbreakers, the product lookbook gives us all a dissected and studied look into the collection.

The lookbook eseentially attempts to explore the relationship between the design and product, and sneakers are presented in new, unstyled lights. The red, white and blue retro Abhang is separated into its basic components, detaching the soles from the upper and laces from the shoes, then laid methodically side by side for a surgical, scientific presentation. The hi-top GIPFEL is slashed open to reveal a cross-section. As for apparel, aside from the catalog of the items, we get a peek into the design sketches of the items.

Check out “Felicity” and take your time with it as this is probably one of the most meticulously detailed look into the whole adidas Originals by Originals kzk collection to date. Don’t miss out special collaborations such as tees and footwear with Japan’s DJ Mintos and the feature coverage at the end which gives us all a better understanding of what goes on behind the scenes for the collaboration as well!
