There is nothing like celebrating a birthday with friends and family. And for KAWS, “friends and family” doesn’t carry the usual weight as it does for the regular folks, since the term usually refers to the big guns in the industry for KAWS. In celebrating the 4th Anniversary of OriginalFake, aside from NIGO’s BAPE, Japanese labels UNDERCOVER by Jun Takahashi and NEIGHBORHOOD have also joined in and contributed with special collaborative designs. The 4th Anniversary celebratory t-shirt features three designs from NEIGHBORHOOD and two from UNDERCOVER. While the co-branded tees from NEIGHBORHOOD feature playful KAWS’ twists on the NEIGHBORHOOD signature logo (such as a neon slimy worm winding itself around the logo), UNDERCOVER’s collaboration delivers a fusion of aesthetics, combining UNDERCOVER’s peculiar creativity (using sign language to represent “Original” in OriginalFake) with OriginalFake’s bright, pop-art shapes. The tees are set to release at OriginalFake on May 3, the same day as the BAPE x OriginalFake T-shirt release.
